HÀ NỘI — The national women’s football team are training in South Korea for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and have implemented health testing requirements by the event’s organising board to prevent coronavirus.

As the deadly virus is spreading quickly, members of the event’s organising board and medical staff are often present at the team's training sessions to measure their body temperature and provide advice.

The team's diet is developed to provide optimal nutrition and avoid coronavirus.

Coach Mai Đức Chung also often reminded his players to stay healthy in the cold weather of Jeju Island.

On Jeju Island, the female players received a gift from the head coach of Việt Nam national men’s football team, Park Hang-seo. The South Korean coach asked his friends on Jeju Island to bring ginseng to the women’s team to strengthen their health.

Việt Nam have been drawn in Group A alongside Myanmar and the host of the qualifiers, South Korea. If the national team are able to clinch at least second place in their group, they will successfully progress to the final qualification round for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

They will first meet Myanmar on February 6 and South Korea three days later.

Group B gathers powerhouses China and Australia, together with Chinese Taipei and Thailand. Their matches were first scheduled on the same day as Group A in Wuhan, China, but because of the coronavirus outbreak it was moved to Nanjing and now due to its continued spreading it has been moved to Sydney, Australia. —VNS
