HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will send more than 300 athletes to the sixth Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Thailand in November.

Players will compete in 27 sports among 38 available in Bangkok and Chonburi.

The Sports Authority of Việt Nam are working with federations and departments for short lists of competitors. The SAV prefers to give spots to young talent so they could sharpen their technique and learn from international friends.

Among sports are swimming, basketball, badminton jujitsu, pencak silat, sepak takraw, e-sports, fencing, futsal, kickboxing, shooting, athletics, billiards, chess, dance sports, karate, kurash, muay, taekwondo, weightlifting and wrestling.

Initially, the Games was scheduled in 2021 but it was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was rescheduled three times in March 2022, November 2023 and March 2024 but never happened.

Early this year, the Olympic Council of Asia and hosts Thailand agreed to finalise the date of November 16-30.

The AIAMG 6 will be the second important Games for Việt Nam in 2024 following the Paris Olympics in July. VNS
