HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam topped the ranking table at the Asian Junior and U23 Rowing Championship which came to a close on December 19 in Thailand.
The Vietnamese athletes competed in 20 events and secured seven gold, four silver and one bronze medal to dominate the tally.
Among the winners were Đinh Thế Đức and Nguyễn Văn Hiếu who both twice stepped on the top podiums.
Đức first won the men's lightweight single sculls before earning gold with the men's lightweight quadruple sculls with three teammates.
Meanwhile Hiếu triumphed in the men's heavyweight single sculls and lightweight doubles sculls.
The Thai tournament featured young athletes from 15 countries and territories from December 12-19.
It was the last international event of the Việt Nam Team in 2023. They will return home today and prepare for the Paris Olympics' qualification rounds at the Hải Phòng's National Rowing Centre. VNS
