HÀ NỘI  In recent years, Mt Phia Pò, part of the Mẫu Sơn mountain range in Lộc Bình District of the northern province Lạng Sơn, has been enticing trekkers to conquer the heights and explore the pristine landscape.

Located about 30km east of Lạng Sơn City and nearly 200km from Hà Nội, Mt Phia Pò, also known as Cha Mountain, is 1,541m above sea level and is the highest point of the province. In every season of the year, the mountain holds a different beauty, though the best time to conquer Mt Phia Pò is between April and June. During this time, the weather is neither too cold nor too hot, with just a little rain which encourages a variety of flowers to bloom across the area.

The best time to conquer Phja Pò is between April to June, when flowers cover the area.

Several travel magazines such as Dulichvietnam, Travellive and Checkin Travel have voted Phia Pò as one of the three mountains with the most beautiful 'dinosaur backbone' areas -- where the mountain shape resembles the back of a giant prehistoric dinosaur -- in Việt Nam. The little-known destination in Lạng Sơn attracted an increasing number of tourists, particularly trekkers, since 2019.

“My friends and I have travelled to the top of Mt Phja Pò twice. Being immersed in the majestic and primitive natural landscape is truly an unforgettable experience for us. It is truly a highly recommended destination to any trekkers who love adventure and natural beauty,” said Hà Thu Hồng from Lạng Sơn City. VNS

When trekking up Mt Phja Pò in April, visitors will catch sight of some wild forest flowers blooming along the way, such as purple rhododendrons.
