HÀ NỘI — Three cities in Việt Nam have been presented with the ASEAN Clean Tourist Awards 2020 during the closing ceremony of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) held in Brunei.
The awards went to Vũng Tàu City in the southern province of Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, Quy Nhơn city in the coastal central province of Bình Định and Huế city in the central province of Thừa Thiên-Huế.
The recognition aimed to honour and promote localities with high-quality tourism services.
To earn the title, the cities needed to satisfy criteria on environmental management, cleanliness, waste management, awareness-building on environmental protection and cleanliness, green spaces, health and urban safety for tourists and tourism infrastructure and facilities meeting standards.
In 2018, Huế, Hội An and Đà Lạt received the title.

The Sa Vĩ Border Information Centre located in the northern city of Móng Cái in addition to the Thanh Đông organic vegetable garden in Hội An City were presented with the ASEAN Best Sustainable Urban and Rural Tourism Products, respectively.
Mường Thanh Luxury Quảng Ninh Hotel with 508 rooms won in the category ASEAN MICE Venue Award, together with the Furama Resort (Đà Nẵng), Vạn Phát Riverside (Cần Thơ), Diamond Bay (Khánh Hòa) and Novotel Phú Quốc (Kiên Giang).
The ASEAN Green Hotel awards went to JW Marriot (Hà Nội), Victoria (Cần Thơ), Novotel Ha Long Bay (Quảng Ninh), Terracotta Resort & Golf Dalat (Lâm Đồng) and Four Seasons The Nam Hải (Hội An).
With the theme Together Towards a Next Generation of Travel, the ATF which took place on January 12-16 gathered countries in the ASEAN bloc. Various activities like conferences, meetings and roadshows to promote tourism took place during the event. — VNS
