Vietnamese athletes competed unsuccessfully in the
first leg of Asian Grand Prix Athletics at the National Stadium in
Bangkok, earning only three silver medals on Monday.
Do Thi Thao, Viet Nam''s sole representative at the first meeting of the
Asian Grand Prix in Bangkok, won silver in the women''s 800m event on
Saturday.
The Viet Nam Athletics Federation (VAF) has
announced that Do Thi Thao will be the only Vietnamese athlete to
compete at the upcoming Asian Grand Prix in Thailand.
Viet Nam will take part in five maijor international track-and-field competitions this year. The
first is the 14th Asian Marathon Championships on February 24 in Hong
Kong, while the second is the Asian Walking Championships in Nomi,
Japan, on March 10.
Vietnamese top runner Truong Thanh Hang finished
first on the women''s 800m track in the first stage of the Asian Grand
Prix Athletics in Bangkok on Tuesday.
