Archaeologists
have just announced that the bronze drum found at a construction site in
Baucau, in the east of Timor-Leste, was typical of the Dong Son civilisation
(1,000BC-100AD).

cultural and historical value at Nghe An Museum are at risk of damage
due to the lack of appropriate preservation efforts.
The Viet Nam National Museum of History opened an exhibition yesterday
displaying one of the biggest, most intact collections of bronze Dong
Son drums to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the culture''s discovery.
The UNESCO Club on the Research and Preservation of
the Value of National Antiquities on Saturday handed out more than 100
antiques to the local museum.
The treasures of the Dong Son Civilisation are on display at the Department of Museums, Malaysia.The
display features about 100 exhibits, photographs, and documentaries
belonging to the Viet Nam National History Museum and the Malaysian
department.
Metalworkers recently cast the world''s biggest
bronze drum at the private workshop of artisan Le Van Bay in the central
province of Thanh Hoa''s Thieu Hoa District.
A bronze drum from the Dong Son culture (2,000BC-200AD) has been found
at a road construction site in the northern province of Bac Kan,
according to researchers from the Viet Nam Archaeology Institute.
The provincial museum in southern An Giang Province
was delighted on Thursday to receive three collections of pottery
artefacts, four earrings, some weapons and many utensils dating from
Dong Son Civilisation (2,500 years ago), donated by the Viet Heritage
Company.
