Fifty-five teams from the Mekong Delta provinces of
Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Kien Giang participated in the
Long Boat Race Festival of the Khmer people in Soc Trang Province from
November 23 to 25.
Ok Om Bok, the Khmer people''s annual festival of worshipping the moon,
opens today in Tra Vinh City in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of
Tra Vinh.
An exhibition of Cambodian paintings, sculptures,
and other ancient and modern artefacts opened at the Museum of HCM City
on Tuesday as part of the ongoing 2015 Cambodia Culture Week in Viet
Nam.
The ethnic Khmer people in the Cuu Long (Mekong)
Delta will celebrate Ooc-om-bok Festival, one of their most important
traditional festivals, on November 25-26.
The Ethnic Khmer New Year, Chol Chnam Thmay, will be
featured at the Southern Land food festival, held at Dam Sen Park in
HCM City from May 29 to June 1.
The Khmer Culture Museum in the Cuu Long (Mekong)
Delta province of Tra Vinh has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors after
resuming operation a month ago. The museum suspended services for two
years for a restoration.
"The southern Khmer ethnic minority group –
solidarity towards the island" is the theme of the sixth Khmer festival
of culture, sports and tourism to be held in Hau Giang Province from
November 27-29.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has added the Ok Om Bok
(moon worship to wish for a prosperous harvest) festival to the national
intangible cultural heritage list.
The Chol Chnam Thmay festival to mark New Year of
the Khmer ethnic people living in the south will be celebrated for the
first time in Ha Noi as part of the Viet Nam''s Ethnic Cultural Day from
April 15 to 20.
Cham Rieng Cha Pay – a traditional type of folk music practised by the
Khmer ethnic people – was recognised as part of the nation''s intangible
cultural heritage on Tuesday.
