HCM CITY— More than 50 singers, dancers, musicians and fashion models will perform at a music and fashion programme tonight at HCM City’s Ben Thanh Theatre.
The event, called Tinh Xuan (Spring Love), is part of the city’s cultural activities to welcome the Lunar New Year. It will highlight songs and dances in praise of the country and soldiers.
Veteran singers Anh Tuyet, Cam Van and Khac Trieu, and young pop idols Dong Nhi and Noo Phuoc Thinh will be featured, while pop star Dam Vinh Hung and Vietnamese-American singer Duong Trieu Vu will also perform.
The artists will sing folk and traditional music, with contemporary dances by young artists from ABC and HBSO troupes.
A fashion show from designer Lien Huong, who will display her three collections of ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) in traditional materials, will be a highlight of the show.
Her collections Net Dep Sai Thanh (Beauty of Sai Gon) and Thien Dieu (Birds of the Sky) use satin, silk and lace, featuring images of Vietnamese women in the 1960s and 70s.
Royal patterns from the Le, Ly and Tran dynasties are featured in clothes of the collection called Huyen Su Thang Long (History of Thang Long Citadel)
“I wanted to highlight Vietnamese culture and lifestyle,” said fashion designer Huong, who has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry.
The catwalk will attract 20 top models, including Miss Universe Viet Nam 2017 H’Hen Nie.
The show is expected to attract 2,000 guests.
It will open at 8:30pm tonight at Ben Thanh Theatre, 6 Mac Dinh Chi, District 1.— VNS
