HCM CITY— Forty singers and dozens of dancers and musicians will perform in the concert Sai Gon Bolero in HCM City on June 8.
Produced by Nhac Xanh Entertainment, the show will feature veteran singers Dong Dao, Ngoc Anh and Phuong Thuy, who were famous in the 1980s and 90s.
Vietnamese-Australian singer Phuong Dung will also perform.
Dung began her career in 1960 in Sai Gon (now HCM City) after recording Noi Buon Gac Tro (Nostalgic), a bolero song by composers Manh Phat and Hoai Linh.
She has released more than 300 albums and CDs, mostly in bolero and folk music, produced by Vietnamese studios and agencies in Australia, France and the US.
Pop stars Phuong Thanh and Khanh Ngoc will also be included.
The show’s artists, including young winners of music game shows on Viet Nam Television and HCM Television, will stage 30 songs in bolero, pop, and dance music composed by Huy Du, Ngo Thuy Mien, Tran Thien Thanh and Nguyen Anh, all of whom played a role in the country’s musical development.
They will perform solo and in groups with support from dancers and musicians at the HCM City Conservatory of Music.
Sai Gon Bolero will begin at 8pm at Trong Dong Entertainment Centre, 12B Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, District 1, on June 8. Tickets are available at the box office.—VNS
