HA NOI — During ‘Black-and-White Movie Month’, the Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD) will present a screening of the Oscar-winning movie The Artist tomorrow.

Premiered in 2011, The Artist is made in the style of a black-and-white silent film.

Written, directed, and co-edited by Michel Hazanavicius, the movie takes place in Hollywood between 1927 and 1932, when silent cinema fell out of fashion. The movie focuses on the relationship between an older silent film star and a rising young actress.

The Artist has received critical acclaim and won many accolades. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won five, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor – the first ever given to a French actor (Jean Dujardin). It was also the first French-produced film to win Best Picture.

The screening will be at 7.30pm. TPD is at 51 Tran Hung Dao Street (4th floor), Telephone (024) 3936 6559 for reservations, a donation at the door of VND20,000/person is recommended. — VNS
