HCM CITY — Fifty motor caravans will make their way from HCM City to Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta for the Mekong Caravan Tour from November 26 to 30.
Around 200 motor caravanners will take part in networking activities with local travel enterprises and exchange ideas for sustainable tourism development in the Mekong Delta during the five-day journey, said Trương Đức Hải, chairman of G7 Travel Group, one of the organisers.
Participating enterprises will have meetings with local authorities to discuss ways to develop local tourism, particularly community-based tourism products, Hải said at a press meeting held on Monday in HCM City.
The journey will be designed with off-the-beaten-track destinations for adventurous travelers, he said.
They will also be involved in various charity activities worth a total of more than VNĐ800 million (US$34,500) to support communities in eight localities.
These activities include installing street lights in Trà Vinh Province, presenting computers to a boarding school for ethnic minorities in Sóc Trăng Province, building charity houses for poor households in Bạc Liêu, giving scholarships to students in Cần Thơ City, and donating bicycles to pupils in Bến Tre Province.
The Mekong Caravan Tour is co-organised by the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club, the Vietnam Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises Forum, and the G7 Travel Group. — VNS
