HCM CITY — The 2024 National Press Festival officially kicked yesterday morning (March 15) on Lê Lợi Street, HCM City.
The festival, with a theme "Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovation for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and the People", will take place until March 17.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lê Quốc Minh, chairman of Việt Nam Journalists Association, said that this is a big event for the national press.
The event also celebrates the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Journalists Association, he added.
The event is expected to bring many professional activities of high quality, large scale, depth and practicality to the public, and journalists.
This year's Press Association also organised a National Press Forum for the first time with 10 discussion sessions on important and urgent topics related to Vietnamese journalism in the era of digital transformation.
These discussion sessions will take place after the plenary forum, with 60 speakers from domestic and foreign press agencies.
There is an impressive display area about the history of Vietnamese journalism. Eight special exhibition pavilions feature Nhân Dân Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, Military Press, Police Press, Government and National Assembly Electronic Information Portals and 112 other booths display newspapers and magazines, covering all aspects of economics, politics, culture, society, defense, security and foreign affairs.
The scale of press booths at the 2024 National Press Festival is double the 2023 press festival with nearly 300 press agencies, associations and press training facilities; 64 booths displaying OCOP products from 50 provinces and centrally-run cities that highlight the role of domestic media and journalism in promoting the regional economy.
