HÀ NỘI — Artisan Phùng Đình Giáp, one of the few artisans who still makes phỗng đất (a kind of folk toy mainly made from earth), will share his stories about this traditional job during a talk on Saturday.

A simple and humble children's toy from the past, the earthen statuettes are part of the culture of the Red River Delta region. However, this folk toy is no longer popular nowadays.

Though the tradition is fading away, artisan Giáp has spent his whole life maintaining the job that both his grandfather and father did.

The event aims to help maintain the traditional job and preserve and spread the values of Vietnamese folk culture.

Alongside learning about the traditional job and Giáp’s stories, attendees will also have the chance to make their own earthen statuettes under Giáp's tutelage.

The talk will take place from 2pm until 5pm at Bấc Cafe & Chill, No 133, Alley 189 Hoàng Hoa Thám Street. Fee: VNĐ100,000/person. — VNS
