HCM CITY — The HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will hold a concert on March 29 featuring Mozart’s Symphony No 41.
Composed in 1788, the Symphony No 41 in C Major, K 551 was Mozart’s last and longest symphony.
The four-movement work is considered one of the greatest symphonies in classical music, together with Mozart’s Symphony No 39 and 40.
HBSO’s symphony orchestra will perform under the baton of Meritorious Artist and conductor Tran Vuong Thach.
The concert will also feature excerpts from famous operas, such as Attila and Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi and Les contes d’Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffman) by Jacques Offenbach.
Excerpts from the German opera Der Freishutz (The Freeshooter) by Carl Maria von Weber will be included, while the full version of the opera is expected to be staged by HBSO in July.
The excerpts will be performed by sopranos Tran Hong Vy and Pham Duyen Huyen, tenor Pham Trang and bass Dao Mac, along with the HBSO chorus.
The concert will begin at 8pm on Thursday, March 29. The Opera House is at 7 Lam Son Square in District 1.
