HÀ NỘI Paintings, graphic artwork and sculptures inspired by Hà Nội are on display at an exhibition in the capital city.
A total of 250 pieces have been selected from more than 700 entries by the Hà Nội Fine Arts Association.
The artists reflects Hà Nội as an ancient city, the beautiful landscape, portraits of Hanoians, the Old Quarter and the modern city in integration process, according to Phạm Kim Bình, chairwoman of the association.
Hà Nội has expanded in geographic scale so many artists find inspiration from the mountainous region.
The paintings are ranged from lacquer, oil on canvas and silk to mixed media. Meanwhile, most of sculptures have small and medium sizes, which are suitable to display at indoor spaces.
“The annual event now presents the 50th version of its kind, becoming the most awaited event for art lovers in the capital,” Bình said.
“In different styles, the artists bring a multi-faceted view of Hà Nội. Beside truthful and lively paintings, the abstract pieces evoke many thoughts and emotions.”
“We acknowledge that the exhibition has many good works of which artists have put in a lot of efforts. There are many young artists who have graduated from universities.
“We expect the exhibition will help find and encourage new talent in fine arts,” Bình said.
People’s Artist Trần Quốc Chiêm, chairman of the Union of Hà Nội Literature and Arts Associations, said highlight of the exhibition the collection of artworks inspired by Hà Nội.
“Apart from familiar images of Hà Nội such as Long Biên Bridge, the Red River and Temple of Literature, we can see romantic scenes such as flower villages, sunrise on West Lake and the autumn in Hà Nội,” he said.
The exhibition will run until October 13 at the Việt Nam Exhibition, Culture and Art Centre, 2 Hoa Lư Street, Hai Bà District. VNS
