Finland takes Đà Nẵng fireworks trophy

ĐÀ NẴNG — Newcomer Finland won the Đà Nẵng International Fireworks Festival 2019 after an amazing performance in the final with England on Saturday night. Both teams created extraordinary displays at the festival that has been held in the central city since 2008.

Thousands of spectators gathered along the Hàn River to watch the fireworks alongside performances of arts and music.

Newcomer Finland impressed spectators at the Đà Nẵng International Fireworks Festival 2019 with an amazing performance in the final. 

The two European teams took advantage of the water to dominate in the final, but Finland won over the jury to claim their first title.

England impressed viewers with innovative technology in their two shows – in the qualifying round with China and the final with Finland – but the best team took the trophy with the last-minute decision.

The final show closed the month-long fireworks festival in the central city that officially opened on June 1.

The fireworks festival – the 10th since 2008 – drew teams from Russia, Brazil, Belgium, Finland, England, China, Italy, and Việt Nam.

This year’s event, titled ‘Stories by the Rivers’, saw teams describing the beauty and culture of typical rivers in their countries.

Last year, Italy’s Martarello team won the title after a spectacular performance on the Hàn River.

It was the third time an Italian team has won the contest, with the Parente team winning in 2011 and 2012.

In 2013, the US team Melrose Pyrotechnics took first spot. Canada’s Davis Whysall took the top prize in 2008, while China’s Liuyang Dancing won in 2009. France’s Jacques Couturier Organisation won in 2010.

According to organisers, the event attracted more than 1.3 million tourists to the city. — VNS
