Lý Sơn Island to host tripper festival

LY SON — The island district of Ly Son, 30km off the coast of Quang Ngai Province, will host a festival for adventurers from nationwide to explore the beauty of the islands during the Islands and Tourism Week from June 29 to July 3.

The district said about 100 people will take part in the farm-trip.

A night campfire will take place at Cau Cave near the beach on the island for a party and cultural exchange among visitors during the week.

In May, the island also introduced a night market for tourists from 6pm until 10.30pm daily, offering souvenirs, dried seafood and specialities of the island.

According to a report, more than 200,000 tourists visited Ly Son Island and An Binh islet, about 4.8km off the island.

Tourists can explore local cuisine and garlic and onion farming experiences during the summer.

The island has 18 hotels, guesthouses and homestays providing accommodation for 1,000 tourists.

Ly Son has been known as the ‘King of Garlic’ in Viet Nam with 21,000 inhabitants, most of whom make their living from farming garlic and spring onions and fishing. — VNS
