NINH BÌNH The Ninh Binh tourism week 2019, themed “The Golden Colour of Tam Cốc – Tràng An” will be held from May 18-25 with a wide range of activities.

The event aims to promote the beauty of Ninh Bình, especially the cultural and natural heritage of Tràng An, to both domestic and foreign visitors, thus stimulating local tourism growth.

Tam Cốc-Bích Động is known for its caves and pagoda, and is a popular tourist destination in northern Vietnam and part of the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The area is famous for its boat cave tours.

Visitors will have a chance to immerse themselves in the serene beauty of golden rice fields stretching under the stunning limestone ranges and river, and enjoy folk songs at the wharf and caves.

The event will also include a food show.

Traditional handicrafts including Văn Lâm embroidery, Kim Sơn sedge mattress weaving and Bồ Bát ceramics will also be on display.

The event was held for the first time last year to attract more visitors and boost the development of the local tourism sector.

Last year, the province also chose Tam Cốc – Bich Động Tourism Area and Tràng An Ecotourism Area to held the event with the aim of creating opportunities for local tourism companies to exchange and co-operate in culture, socio-economy and tourism with Vietnamese and foreign partners, and affirm the reputation of the province as a “safe, attractive, civilised, friendly and hospitable” tourism destination.

Ninh Bình has targeted tourism as a key economic sector by 2025.

Located around 100km to the south of Hà Nội, the province hosts spectacular karst mountains reflected on rivers. The most beautiful site may be Tam Cốc with mountains, caves and cliffs sprouting along the gentle Ngô Đồng River. The site has been dubbed the "inland Hạ Long Bay".

In recent years, Ninh Bình has shined brightly on the world’s tourism map with millions of foreign visitors each year. Most tourists cannot help but be "wowed" by romantic and splendid landscapes at a series of sites like Tràng An, Tam Cốc-Bích Động and Vân Long marshland.

The province is promoting tourism homestays and improving co-operation with other provinces to enhance the tourism experience. VNS
