Photo exhibition of ethnic minorities on Pedestrian Street

HCM CITY —  A photo exhibition featuring ethnic minority groups living in HCM City and their history and culture has opened at the Nguyễn Huệ Pedestrian Street in District 1.

The event features more than 120 black-and-white and colour photos selected from collections of photographers, collectors and organisations.   

Highlighted works represent the history, culture and lifestyle of ethnic Hoa (Chinese), Khmer and Chăm communities in HCM City. Images of their daily life are also included.

“HCM City has 52 distinct groups living in 24 districts. We live and work together to develop the city and land,” said Nguyễn Thúy Quỳnh, a resident of District 5 which the home of many Hoa people who visited the opening ceremony on Tuesday.

“Many photos of Hoa people left a very strong impression,” she said.

The exhibition is organised by the HCM City Party Committee in co-operation with its partners and HCM City Ethnic Minority Committee. It will close on Saturday.  — VNS
