HA NOI — A photo taken by Le Bich won the top prize at a contest honouring the elegance and civilised lifestyle of Hanoians.
The photo portrays the Vietnamese tradition of receiving guests on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
After five months, the photo contest wrapped up yesterday in Ha Noi.
The contest was organised by Ha Noi Moi newspaper and the city Department of Culture and Sports. The organisers received 1,000 photos sent by 150 photographers nationwide. Beside popular names such as Le Bich and Nguyen Xuan Chinh, the contest drew the participation of many amateur photographers, the youngest of whom was just 14 years old.
Bui Thi Thu Hien, vice director of the department, appreciated the quality of entries.
“The photos depict the fine culture of Hanoians as well as some bad behaviours that need to change," Hien said.
The exhibition of 50 excellent photos will take place during the weekend in the pedestrian zone by Hoan Kiem Lake. — VNS
