HÀ NỘI —  French-Vietnamese author Anna Moi will interact with readers on June 13 at the French Culture Centre L’Espace Hà Nội, on 24 Tràng Tiền St, Hoàn Kiếm Dist, in Hà Nội.

Anna Moi, whose real name is Trần Thiên Nga, was born in 1955 in Sài Gòn (now HCM City). In the 1970s, she went to Paris to study history at the Nanterre University, a university in the Academy of Versailles.

Her encounter with fashion moguls Agnès Troublé (Agnès B.) and Philippe Guibourgé, designer of the Dior luxury company and the House of Chanel had helped Moi to enter the world of fashion.

During the 1980s, she spent most of her time living and working in Bangkok and Tokyo. In 1992, she returned to HCM City and began to write there.

Her two short stories about contemporary Việt Nam, L’écho des rizières (The Echo of the Paddyfield) and Parfum de pagode (Pagoda Perfume) were published in 2001 and 2003.

Her first novel Riz noir (Black Rice) was published in 2004 by Gallimard Publishing House.

Having being active in the French literature world for a long time, she has continuously presented her new works in that language. Moi’s latest book, Nọc bướm (Venom of Butterfly), will be published in January 2017.

Her talk with the audience will be held at 6pm and will also be attended by Professor of Letters Manuel Bengoéchéa. — VNS
