HCM CITY - A training programme for developing tourism human resources for Kon Tum province in 2024 in HCM City was launched on April 10, where 19 students in Kon Tum are sponsored with free scholarships to study tourism services and specialised training courses in tourism in the city.
After six months of training, these students will return to their hometowns to develop the tourism industry for the province.
These students were selected and introduced by the People's Committee of Đắk Hà District and the People's Committee of Tu Mơ Rông District to provide tourism human resources for the province.
These students will study in a professional tourism environment in HCM City, sponsored for free by the Young Entrepreneurs Tourism Club of Việt Nam.
According to Võ Trung Mạnh, chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mơ Rông, tourism is identified as one of the directions to improve the lives of the Xơ Đăng ethnic people locally.
However, due to limitations in human resources and technical infrastructure, the tourism activities in the district have not developed to their full potential and lack professionalism.
The district hopes that after the training course, the students returning to their hometowns can work in tourism more professionally, while also helping the ethnic people develop tourism in a more organised manner, serve tourists better and enhance the quality of human resources and tourism competitiveness.
Tu Mơ Rông district is focusing on developing a comprehensive tourism development plan with support and suggestions from many units, departments and the Tourism General Department.
In the tourism development plan, the province also integrates the potential and strengths of the locality such as programmes, projects related to Ngọc Linh ginseng, ecotourism, community tourism, and indigenous culture.

So far, 12 provincial-level tourist spots have been recognised, and many other potential tourist spots and areas are being reviewed for addition.
Tourism development activities in the province are being strongly promoted, leading to an increasing demand for human resources in the area.
To improve the quality of tourism human resources, Kon Tum is also enhancing training and developing tourism human resources of the province through various forms, with a focus on practical skills and experience. - VNS
