Painting contest launched for fans of Euro literature

HA NOI — Fans of European literature of all ages have been invited to take part in a painting competition themed Sang Tac Ve Nhan Vat Chau Au (Creative with European Literary Characters).

The competition will be open for entries till March 1 and is being held by the embassies of Spain, Hungary, Italy, Swizerland and Sweden, along with the British Council, Goethe Institute and L’Espace in co-operation with Nguyen Tat Thanh secondary and high schools.

Participants can submit paintings related to the following characters: Don Quixote (from The Ingenious Nobleman Sir Quixote of La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes);  Harry Potter (by JK Rowling); Heidi( by Johanna Spyri); Smurfs (in The Smurfs by Peyo); The Hungarian (from Who are the Hungarians? by Lackfi Janos); Mercado (from The Cloven Viscountz by Italo Calvino); Nicholas (from Little Nicholas created by Rene Goscinny and illustrated by Jean-Jacques Sempe); Pettson & Findus (by Sven Nordqvist); and the cat from Puss in Boots.

The best works will win gifts from Europe and have their works exhibited in the framework of the European Book Fair Day 2019 at L’Espace from May 2 to 12 in HCM City. — VNS
