Art expert receives Aussie internship

HCM CITY — The National Gallery of Australia (NGA) has conferred an internship under the Getty Intern Programme for conservation of artefacts on Le Nguyen Duy Anh.

The programme seeks to develop knowledge in the conservation of works of art and artefacts of cultural significance in the Asia-Pacific region.

It is offered every year to an applicant each from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Viet Nam.

Anh is currently in charge of the digitalisation section at the HCM City General Sciences Library's preservation Department and will attend the programme in Australia for 12 weeks.

The programme is fully funded by the NGA and supported by the Australian consulate in HCM City.

"The internship will provide Anh with needed skills in preserving a vast range of works in diverse media categories which he can share with colleagues in the industry upon his return to Viet Nam," Australian consul Graeme Swift said.

Established in 1967 by the Government of Australia as a national public art gallery, NGA is a premier art gallery and museum containing more than 120,000 works. — VNS
