HCM CITY — A show by four artists at HCM City Fine Arts Museum called Ngay Khac (Different Day) features 85 pieces that contrast the different feelings that friends feel.

The exhibition by the group of close friends contains 77 lacquer and oil paintings and eight woodcuts.

"The name of the show reflects how individually we each view the world differently according to the second, minute, hour and day," one of the artists said.

Artist Nguyen Than said his works depict women who have always represented beauty in art and literature.

The 55-year-old artist's Nguoi Dan Ba Di Qua Cua So (A Woman Passes a Window) series contains 21 lacquer paintings featuring the beauty of women.

Than, who is self-taught, uses paste, lacquer, oil paint and pottery.

He has had several solo and group exhibitions in Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Japan and the US.

The youngest artist, Ngo Van Sac, has eight woodcuts in a series called Ngay Dai (Long Day) and two oil paintings both titled Lac (Lost).

"The works are like a person facing himself, or a group of people sharing their feelings," the 31-year-old artist said.

The lacquer paintings by Tran Quang Hai and lacquer and oil paintings by woman artist Ngo Hai Yen express women's love and desirability.

All four artists are members of Viet Nam Fine Arts Association, while Sac, Hai and Yen are graduates of Ha Noi Fine Arts University.

The exhibition runs until April 6 at the HCM City Fine Arts Museum, 97A Pho Duc Chinh, District 1. — VNS
