The singer will be accompanied by other artists including Andres Camilo Cupaban, Yeyfry, and Ramón Paez who play traditional instruments including gaida, tambora drums and the guitar.
The gaita or bagpipe is an indigenous wind instrument from Colombia’s Caribbean coast. It is made from cactus and resembles a straight flute. Its sound is an essential part of many festivals in the Caribbean area in Colombia.
The tambora, or bass drum is a large drum and it is popular with African-Colombian communities in Colombia’s coastal regions.
Bernal is a representative of Caribbean folklore. Her work is a blend of rhythm and the distinctive sound of traditional and modern instruments that bring a modern breeze to her works. Her performances are filled with her own natural, cheerful style.
The concert will begin at 7.30pm at 11 Ngô Thì Nhậm Street. The artists had a meeting with students and lecturers from the Việt Nam National Academy of Music on Monday morning.
The concert is co-held by Hà Nội Opera House and the Colombian embassy to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and Colombia.
After Hà Nội, the artists will perform in Thailand on July 5; Malaysia on July 9; Indonesia on July 18; South Korea on July 24 and Singapore on July 27. — VNS
