HÀ NỘI — Nearly 1,000 people will practice yoga together to mark the International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 22 in Hà Nội.
Under the theme Climate Action, the one-hour programme will commence from 5.30pm at Quần Ngựa Sports Complex, which will include the performance of Yoga Protocol by Vietnamese and foreign yoga lovers living in Hà Nội.

"The event is organised annually in Việt Nam and received much attention and interest from the people," said Rajesh Uike, Deputy Chief of Mission of the embassy.
"It once again affirms the similarities in culture and people exchange between the two countries."
Free classes have been organised for people to prepare yoga sutras for the IDY on June 22.
The Consulate General of India in HCM City is separately celebrating the International Day of Yoga on June 29. The embassy, Bảo Việt Life Insurance Company in collaboration with the People’s Committees of ten other provinces will also be organising yoga events to celebrate the fifth International Day of Yoga.
The event is co-organised by the Indian Embassy, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and People’s Committee of Hà Nội.
June 21 was declared as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly in 2014. "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition.
