ĐÀ LẠT  The Đà Lạt railway service has begun night trains to Trại Mát station, promising a new experience for passengers to gain a better sense of the night-time in Đà Lạt.

During the trip passengers can enjoy screening of documentaries on the history of Đà Lạt station and the Tháp Chàm-Đà Lạt railway section.

The night trains are scheduled to depart from 6:15pm to 9:20pm.

Regular ticket prices will range from VNĐ72,000 to VNĐ100,000 (US$2.90 to 4) for one-way or round-trip journeys.

Đào Anh Tuấn, representative of the Việt Nam Railway Corporation (VNR), said that they hope the night tour by train will be a unique tourism product of the city, contributing to the development of Đà Lạt tourism and economy at night.

The Đà Lạt Train Station was a terminal of the Đà Lạt - Tháp Chàm railway line, connecting the Central Highlands city with Phan Rang Province.

The station was designed by two French architects, Moncet and Revéron, and built between 1932 and 1938.

In 1972, this railway line was destroyed during the war. After the country's reunification in 1975, the line was restored but only for a short period due to poor economic viability.

Currently, the station is no longer part of Việt Nam's national railway system, but it still remains an enticing tourist attraction.

Here are displayed an antique steam locomotive and a café housed in a carriage. The romantic scenery and ancient architecture of the station attract many people in search of good pictures.

Đà Lạt, the capital of Lâm Đồng province, is surrounded by hills, pine forests, lakes and waterfalls.

Known as the “City of Eternal Spring” for its distinctive temperate climate, the city was developed as a resort by the French in the early 1900s. Multiple colonial vestiges remain, creating a unique destination. VNS
