HCMCITY— Dozens of bands from cultural houses and centres in HCM City are participating in a four-day music festival at Sen Hong (Pink Lotus) Stage focusing on youth and patriotism.
The event, Tieng Hat Tu Thanh Pho Mang Ten Bac Ho (Voice of HCM City), celebrates the 71st anniversary of National Day on September 2.
It features more than 300 amateur and professional singers, dancers and musicians. Revolutionary music and dances by famous composers and choreographers have been featured.
Young artists from HCM City’s outlying districts of Cu Chi, Binh Chanh and Hoc Mon have been performing songs praising the country, soldiers and late President Ho Chi Minh.
The event’s organiser, the city’s Department of Culture and Communication, in co-operation with its partners, will present scholarships worth several millions dong to children of soldiers.
The festival’s awards ceremony will be held at 8:00pm Thursday night. It is expected to attract more than 1,500 people. — VNS
