Food festival to attract cuisine from 40 nations

HCM CITY — Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has been preparing for the World Food Festival which will kick off in the coastal city of Vung Tau next month.

The food festival, which will be held along Vung Tau's 3km Thuy Van Beach and will last between July 21 and 25, gathers exhibitors from 40 countries and territories. Local participants come from 40 provinces across the country.

The festival will highlight local and international cuisine and cultures, entertainment and shopping.

The event will introduce the culinary arts of Viet Nam and other countries, cooking performance of well-known cook Martin Yan (Yan Can Cook). There will be talk shows about Viet Nam's culture and food presented by Prof Tran Van Khe, a noted ethnomusicologist.

Activities at the event also include wine and beer tasting, a bartender show, eating competition, and night parties with famous DJs.

There will be a cannon firing performance at the opening ceremony on July 21 and firework performances on Carnival Night on July 24.

The following days of the festival will be celebrated through festivities of core themes such as Viet Spirit Day, World Day and Street Carnival.

The five-day festival, which also aims to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Ha Noi, is expected to welcome 600,000 to 800,000 local visitors and some 100,000 foreign guests. — VNS
