HA NOI — An exhibition highlighting President Ho Chi Minh’s patriotic emulation movement is on-going at the Presidential Relics site in the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Ha Noi.

The display includes a photo capturing President Ho checking a newly-harvested gourd in the northern province of Hai Duong – surrounding him, local farmers show happiness while reporting the result of the crop.

More than 200 displayed documents, photos and other exhibits focus on four emulation topics, including the resistance war and state-building period from 1945-1954, building socialism in the North and reunifying the nation between 1954-1975, the goal of “a wealthy people, a strong nation, an equal, democratic and civilised society” under President Ho Chi Minh Thought, and Military Region 5’s “Determined-to-win” movement.

The exhibition is a confirmation of President Ho’s great role in initiating, organising, and encouraging the Party, people and military to be active in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to raising troops’ and people’s awareness of emulation in the current revolutionary period, according to Vu Manh Ha, director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum.

A similar exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of President Ho’s call for patriotic emulation on June 11, 1948 opened at the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Ha Noi.

The first part of the exhibition focuses on the 1945-1954 period when the newly established Democratic Republic of Viet Nam faced numerous difficulties, including severe famine, illiteracy and foreign aggression.

In response to President Ho’s appeal made on June 11, 1948, Vietnamese compatriots and soldiers vied with one another and made significant contributions to the national resistance war against the French.

The second part reflects the emulation activities in the building of socialism in the north  of the country and the struggle for national liberation and reunification in the south during the 1954-1975 period.

The final part of the exhibition recounts the patriotic activities in following Ho Chi Minh Thought from 1975 up to the present.

The photos on display depict the heroism, self-reliance and self-improvement of every citizen, who has made the best of themselves and joined hands to realise the goals of a wealthy people and a strong country in the new period.

These exhibitions will run until the end of June. — VNS
