HA NOI — Pianist Gabriele Carcano will perform with the Viet Nam National Opera and Ballet (VNOB), which will wrap up the Italian Music Month this Friday.

The concert will feature pieces: Concerto No 1 for piano by Beethoven, Overture to I Vespri Siciliani by Verdi and Konzertstuck for piano and orchestra by Carl Maria von Weber.

This will be Carcano's third time to perform in Viet Nam.

"I'm eager to play with the symphony orchestra of the VNOB.

"Besides my favourite composer Beethoven, I will play a piece by a German musician, which hopefully the audience will enjoy," said Carcano.

Born in 1985, the young pianist has already forged a strong reputation both on and off stage, playing with Europe's best-known artists in some of the world's most prestigious theatres, including La Fenice in Venice.

In 2008, he was awarded the Fondation des Banques Banques Populaires Francaises - Natexis prize.

In January this year he was given the 2010 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship Award, which recognises him as one of the most talented young artists on the international music scene.

In 2010, he performed at the Marlboro Music Festival in the US. The concert will take place at the Ha Noi Opera House at 8pm.

Tickets are available at 1 Trang Tien Street. — VNS
