Artist Jamie Maxtone Graham is showing his work at the Manzi Art Space until June 15. Photo coutersy of Manzi Art Space
HÀ NỘI — You could not only see the art, but be part of the art itself, by visiting the Manzi Art Space which is showing images taken by renowned artist Jamie Maxtone-Graham.
Graham is a photographer, cinematographer and director who has lived in Hà Nội since 2007, having previously been a director of photography in both New York and Los Angles.
The art space at Manzi works both as gallery for his works, Untitled and as a working space - a temporary portrait studio. The artist himself will be there to welcome visitors, who will be invited to participate in making a portrait.
Some of the photographs produced each day in the studio will then be displayed the following day for new visitors and perhaps those returning to see their portraits on the wall.
When the exhibition closes, on June 15, visitors will be asked to collect their own image to take home.
During his time in Việt Nam, Graham has worked on social documentaries and in conceptual, portraiture and still life art. His work has been exhibited in galleries and photography festivals across Europe and Asia, has been published in several critically reviewed academic journals and is also in a number of private collections.
He has conducted long-term workshops in both film and photography at Hanoi DocLab and is a committed supporter of the art community in Việt Nam, both as a practitioner and mentor.
The studio is open from 10am - 4pm at No2 Hàng Bún Lane, Ba Đình District. ️Closing studio party begins at 6.30pm on June 15. — VNS
