HA NOI — Various cultural activities will take place to call on people and tourism enterprises to protect the sea environment as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched a campaign entitled "Blue Vietnamese Sea" yesterday in Ha Noi.
Accordingly, members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, volunteers and enterprises will work together to clean the sea in coastal provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Da Nang City on May 18-26.
The volunteers are also organising activities to raise awareness among local people, tourists and enterprises who operate tourism services on and around the sea.
Nguyen Thai Binh, spokesman for the Ministry, estimated that the campaign will attract the participation of 5,000 people.
“We will make a hallmark of building a clean atmosphere for sea tourism and spread a message of protecting the sea environment as it’s a urgent global issue,” he said.
“Developing sea tourism should go hand in hand with protecting the sea environment to make the tourism industry a key and sustainable economy of the country.”
The campaign will kick off in preparation for the high season of travelling when summer comes, he added.
A friendly football match between artists and Song Lam Nghe An team will take place on May 22 to raise funds to provide fresh water for people suffering from water shortages due to saltwater intrusion.
A concert to promote the meaning of the campaign will be held on May 26 at Cua Lo Beach, Nghe An, with the participation of many famous artists such as Dong Nhi, Duc Phuc and Luu Huong Giang. The music show will be broadcast live on VTV6. — VNS
