HA NOI — The Department of Performing Arts ordered the organising board of Miss Ocean 2017 to dethrone Le Au Ngan Anh, winner of the beauty pageant, for failing to satisfy the requirements of the contest.
The beauty contest winner will have her title snatched back because she had nose surgery before the competition.
Judges refused to accept her account that she had the implant removed before the contest.
Head of the department, Nguyen Quang Vinh, signed an official document ordering the organising board to penalise Miss Ocean for violating the requirements of the contest.
Earlier, inspectors from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism imposed a VND4 million (US$180) fine on the organising board for accepting unqualified candidates as candidates in the contest.
Le Au Ngan Anh who is believed to have undergone rhinoplasty before the competition, was crowned Miss Ocean last October, apparently to the disappointment of some members of the public.
However, Anh said she had the silicone removed to restore her nose to its natural state before the competition. — VNS
