HA NOI — The first ever World Food Festival will be held in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung tau from July 21-25 along the 3km Thuy Van Beach.

Organisers estimate that representatives from more than 80 countries and territories and 60 localities of Viet Nam will attend the festival. In classic Vietnamese fashion, foreign guests and tourists will be introduced to Vietnamese culture, the organisers said at a press briefing in Ha Noi on Thursday.

" The festival is expected to welcome more than one million local and international visitors, and to be recorded in the Guinness World Book as the longest space culinary festival," said an organiser Huynh Trung Nam.

Focusing on food, culture and entertainment, the festival will give visitors an opportunity to sample food and drinks from around the world, participate in cultural exchanges and go wild in a colourful street parade.

Visitors would have five days to savour appetisers, desserts, traditional snacks, and star-rated cuisine, Nam said, adding that world music would set the festival apart from other culinary events, with a series of performances from local and international artists planned.

" Let's grab this passport to the world and relish a kaleidoscopic programme of day and night dining, cultural diversity, concerts and much more," said Nam.— VNS
