QUANG BINH — The central Quang Binh Province has plans to build a zipline system that is expected to be the longest one in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
Authorities of the park were quoted by local newspaper as saying the zipline will run across a planned tourism complex on a total area of 350,000 sq. m. in a buffer zone of the park.
The area is said to have beautiful scenery thanks to the primary forest, karst mountains and a river. Le Thanh Tinh, the park’s director said the area has idyllic conditions for the zipline system.
There are two stretches of empty land running along the riverbanks, so the area is favourable for the development of a tourism complex developed by the park authorities and capital mobilised from the private sector.
The provincial People’s Committee said the plans have been created according to a master plan approved last year by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc for the development of local tourism.
The complex will focus on outdoor activities including sightseeing, camping, swimming, ziplining and studying the local biological system.
The zipline system will be the expanded one on the existing Song Chay-Hang Toi system, which has been open for tourists for three years.
Local authorities requested the construction have limited effects on the biology of the targeted area for construction. They require that the poles erected for bridging the lines be erected in an area with bushes to reduce the number of trees that would need to be chopped. — VNS
