THUA THIEN – HUE (VNS) — A scientific dossier on 50 masks used in Hue's ancient art of tuong (classical drama) is being compiled by researchers from the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre.
The first project of its kind, it managed to gather 100 masks last year. The official dossier details and analyses the typical features of the masks used in Hue royal performance so as to compare with the art in their respective regions of the country.
The total 150 masks will serve as models for contemporary Hue artists and will also be displayed at public exhibitions. — VNS
