HÀ NỘI Tourism businesses from South Africa and Việt Nam discussed promoting travel between two nations during a conference on Friday in Hà Nội.

Neliswa Nkani, Hub Head of Middle East, India and Southeast Asia (MEISEA) of the South African Tourism office said this is the first time she has been to Việt Nam.

“Despite the distance, Việt Nam and South Africa have some similarities in history and society, the good relationship between two countries is the base of the development in cultural exchange and tourism,” she said.

“In the coming years, we want to attract more Vietnamese tourists, this is the promising market for us.”

Currently, South African Tourism has co-operated with various travel companies of Việt Nam such as Hanoitourist, Vietravel, Du Lịch Việt and Saigontourist.

During the conference, participants discussed visa policy, discounts, destinations and tourism potential of South Africa. Nkani also introduced some MICE programmes, one of the targets of the South African tourism industry.

“Talking about South Africa, some first keywords that Vietnamese people think are Nelson Mandela, wildlife, Jaracanda flowers and diamonds. On the occasion, we want to bring more information and images of South Africa to Vietnamese people.

“We have Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Cape Point, Boulders Beach, Table Mountain and Pilanesberg National Park. These are some attractive destinations for foreigners.

“From Việt Nam, tourists can choose Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways to travel to South Africa,” she added. — VNS
