Supermodels count down to final round in quest for the crown

HCM City — The final round of the Viet Nam super model contest will be held at Phan Dinh Phung Stadium and aired on HTV7 on September 26.

Contestants will model ao dai (traditional long dress), swimsuit and evening gown, pose and walk in front of the camera, and take part in a talent performance.

Awards will be delivered to the winners after the contest.

The contest is organised by HTV (HCM City Television), Thoi Trang Tre (Young Fashion) Magazine, and the Cat Tien Sa Company, and sponsored by shampoo brand Ramus.

Vietnamese hair styles to be featured in new catalogue

HCM City — A hair catalogue will be introduced by Vietnamese stylist Tuan Ha Lan at the Dem Da Hoi Toc (Hair Gala) Star War Night-club and Restaurant at 5 Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.

The catalogue, Tuan's first in his 20-year career, introduces hundreds of hair styles for Vietnamese women. The most fashionable hair styles in the catalogue will be shown at the show, which will feature a bevy of models, singers and film stars.

According to show producers, money raised from sales of the catalogue would be used for charitable activities.

Plays planned to help usher in capital's millennial anniversary

HA NOI — As many as 14 plays featuring national history will be performed in the capital from August 19 to 22 to celebrate 1,000th anniversary of Ha Noi.

The plays, half of which have received awards for their performances are closely related to important events in the history of Viet Nam.

Because of the specific characteristics of historical plays, most of plays will be performed as tuong (classical drama), cheo (traditional opera), cai luong (reformed opera). My Nhan va Anh Hung (Beauty and Hero) is the only drama.

The performances will be held at Kim Ma and Hong Ha theatres.

The programme, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is entirely in Vietnamese, and features no translated material or subtitles. — VNS
