HA NOI — Tran Tieu Vy of Quang Nam overcame 42 other finalists to take the crown of Miss Viet Nam 2018 in the grand finale of the pageant in HCM City yesterday.
Vy is well-suited to succeed in competition at international pageants. The 18-year-old woman was listed in the top three of the Miss Sea session at the contest.
Bui Phuong Nga, who was born in the central province of Ha Tinh, and Nguyen Thi Thuy An of Kien Giang were the runners-up.
The winner walked away with VND500 million (US$24,000) in cash and gifts worth several hundred millions of dong, while the runners-up took home VND200 million ($9,500) each.
Following this event, Vy will represent the country in the upcoming global competition Miss World 2018.

Hanoian Le Thanh Tu won Miss Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress). Nguyen Thi Hong Tuyet of An Giang won Miss Charming Face. Tuyet was also named in the top three of the Miss Fashion session.
Ha Luong Bao Hang from Dak Lak won Miss Tourism. Huynh Pham Thuy Tien of HCM City won Miss Sports and Hanoian Nguyen Hoang Bao Chau won Miss Beach.
Miss Viet Nam began in 1988 and has been organised every two years. The contest has encouraged many young women to demonstrate their talent in careers, charity and social activities. — VNS
