ĐÀ NẴNG -- Vietnamese marksmen are competing at the National Strong Shooting Clubs Championships in Đà Nẵng City.
As many as 200 shooters from 12 cities and provinces vie for 24 sets of medals in the pistol and rifle events. The finals are scheduled on May 25.
A tournament for athletes of trap and skeep is organised on May 18-25 in Hà Nội featuring 40 athletes from the Military, HCM City, Thanh Hóa and the hosts.
According to President Đỗ Văn Bình of the Việt Nam Shooting Federation, these tournaments were two official championships in the national competition system.
The events were not only to help athletes test their skills but also a warm-up for the Vietnamese Olympian to prepare for the Paris Games in July.
Bình said the federation would hold a tournament for amateur athletes in compak sporting in Hà Nội from May 23 to 27, creating a playing ground for local people and seeking new talents for national team. VNS
