QUẢNG NAM — Top men’s and women’s artists from 14 teams will be competing in the National Beach JuJitsu Championship this weekend, along with possibly winning a place on the national team.
They will compete on Hạ Thanh beach in Tam Kỳ City’s Tam Thanh commune on August 24-25, the Việt Nam JuJitsu Federation announced.
It said 160 athletes will start the competition in Newaza NoGi event for the men’s eight weight categories from under-52kg to over-95kg. Meanwhile, women’s wrestlers will be challenging in eight classes from under-41kg to over-70kg.
Competitors will also join in the team’s event for men’s division from under-62kg to under-85kg and women’s division in under-52kg, under-57kg and under-63kg.
The provincial department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the championship is an opportunity for athletes nationwide to contest their skills and power after year-around training.
It said the championship would also help promote the ‘green’ tourism brand of the province through sport activities.
The federation will select the best players at the championship for the national squad.
Tam Thanh commune – 7km from Tam Kỳ City – is known as a favourite beach destination.
The opening ceremony of the championship will be on the beach at 8.30am.
