THANH HÓA — Thanh Hóa came from behind to beat Shan United of Myanmar 3-1 in the ASEAN Club Championship held in Thanh Hóa Province on Wednesday.

Shan United took the lead in the fifth minute after a defensive fumble by Thanh Hóa. Bakayoko successfully broke the offside trap and fired a shot through the goalkeeper's legs, putting the Myanmar team in front.

Despite the early setback, Thanh Hóa pressed forward to attack but struggled to break down Shan United's solid defence. Lê Văn Thắng played energetically but lacked precision, while the foreign players such as Luis Antonio and Yago had lackluster performances. The first half ended with Shan United still leading 1-0.

In the second half, Thanh Hóa continued to pressure their opponents. In the 47th minute, they almost equalised when the ball hit the crossbar after a shot by Doãn Ngọc Tân. Their persistence paid off when Rimario scored the equaliser from close range.

Rimario's goal helped Thanh Hóa play more freely and in the 72nd minute, Yago put them ahead with a header. In the 86th minute, Antonio sealed the victory with a superb long-range shot that found the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to make a save and the match ended 3-1 in favour of the home team.

Thanh Hóa and Hà Nội Police are the two representatives of V.League 1 participating in the ASEAN Club Championship, which has two groups of six teams. The top two teams from each group will now advance to the knockout round.

The victory over Shan United will boost Thanh Hóa's confidence before facing highly rated clubs such as Pathum (Thailand) and PSM (Indonesia). VNS
