HÀ NỘI — Bình Điền Long An have booked a spot in the semi-finals of the VTV9-Bình Điền International Women's Volleyball Tournament in Rạch Giá City.
Long An beat Vietinbank 3-1 in the last group A match in the southern province of Kiên Giang on Wednesday.
With three wins, Long An topped Group A and qualified for the next round.
With experienced players, Vietinbank controlled the first set and quickly won 25-21.
Vietinbank seemed set to raise the score to 2-0 when they a 22-18 lead in the next set. However, Long An fought back to level the score of 24-24 and then won 27-25.
In the next set, Vietinbank’s suffered a tight 28-26 loss, before Long An took the victory with a 25-17 fourth set victory.
Earlier, Thailand crushed Nanjing of China 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-23) to be the runners-up of Group A and also moved to the event’s semi-finals.
The event is broadcast live in VTV9 and SCTV15.
The tournament features eight teams including four from the US, China and Thailand, competing in the round-robin format in the qualifying round.
The winning team will walk away with US$15,000. — VNS
