HA NOI — The Ben Tre Province Television Men’s Cycling Tournament will kick off on January 8 with big bonuses for the participants.
The event, which is known as the Hoa Sen Plastic Pipe Cup, will feature nine stages over a total of 1,061km, starting in Ninh Thuan Province’s Phan Rang-Thap Cham City to four destinations before ending in Ben Tre Province on January 16.
Well known cyclists from 14 clubs such as Nguyen Thanh Tam, Trinh Duc Tam (An Giang), Phan Hoang Thai (Dong Thap) and Nguyen Truong Tai (HCM City) have registered to compete.
In this year’s edition, each stage winner will receive VND2.5 million (US$110) while the rider who wins the sprint will grab VND1.5 million ($70).
The overall yellow jersey holder will get a prize of VND45 million. The organisers will also present cash to cyclists who take the green and white jerseys, as well as the winning team. — VNS
