HA NOI — Lai Ly Huynh suffered his first draw at the National Chinese Chess Championships on Thursday in Da Nang City.
The defending champion from Binh Duong Province was tied with master Vo Minh Nhat from Binh Phuoc.
Huynh still leads the men’s category with 5.5 points, but there is only a gap of 0.5 points with the runner-up Nhat after the sixth match.
Nguyen Hoang Lam of HCM City is at the third spot.
Huynh will play Lam while Nhat will face Nguyen Khanh Ngoc of Ha Noi in the next round.
In the women’s category, HCM City masters dominated the top three spots. Nguyen Hoang Yen is at the first place with six points. Tran Huynh Thi en Kim and Doan Thi Thuy Dung are second and third, respectively.
There was no change in the ranking in the mixed doubles event. HCM City took the lead. Binh Dinh was second and Ba Ria-Vung Tau was third. — VNS
