Huynh, Yến remain leaders of chess championships

HA NOI — There was no change to the top spots of the National Chinese Chess Championships as both leading masters won yesterday in Da Nang.

No 2 seed Lai Ly Huynh of Binh Duong bagged his fourth win, beating Nguyen Cong Chuong of Khanh Hoa in the fourth round match of the men’s pool.

Nguyen Nhat Minh Quang of HCM City jumped to second position with a win against No 3 seed Vu Huu Cuong of Ha Noi.

Huynh will play HCM City’s Diep Khai Nguyen, who has 3.5 points and currently sits in fourth place.

Quang will face Vo Minh Nhat from Binh Phuoc in the next round.

On the women’s side, Nguyen Hoang Yen of HCM City is on top with four points.

She is followed by teammates Dam Thuy Dung and Tran Huynh Thien Kim.

In the mixed doubles category, HCM City replace Binh Dinh as the No 1 team after four rounds. Binh Dinh are second and Ba Ria-Vung Tau are third. — VNS
