HÀ NỘI — The IRONMAN Group has praised last weekend's race in Việt Nam for reaching premiere standards and expects to have more events in the country in the future.
In its seventh edition on May 7, the Vinfast IRONMAN 70.3 Việt Nam saw more than 3,000 athletes from 62 countries and territories, including 1,200 Vietnamese, compete in Đà Nẵng, which owns one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
“I have heard many great things about this race in Đà Nẵng and wanted to experience it myself. Having raced in multiple IRONMAN events around the world and observing many others, I can confirm that this event is at the IRONMAN premiere standard," said Matthieu Van Veen, Chief Business Officer of The IRONMAN Group.

Van Veen participated in the men's division in the age group of 50-54 and finished his race after 6hr 29min.
"The destination, the warm welcome from the local authorities, the best in class organisation by Sunrise Events Vietnam and the legendary hospitality of the people of Việt Nam as extended by the local community was superb," he said.
Van Veen and a team of IRONMAN Asia arrived in Việt Nam to observe and evaluate the preparation and operation activities and discuss with the local staff about the overall organisation.
Based on their observation and review, the team will have a decision about further tournaments in the future.
"It was also great to be able to race in the home country of our Global Partner VinFast and to witness the passion Vietnamese have for the IRONMAN brand. We look forward to further supporting the growth of multi-sport in this country in the years to come,” he said.

Organiser Sunrise Events Vietnam also expected to have more support from IRONMAN Group to raise the standards of event organisation to become one of the best and most popular IRONMAN 70.3 events globally.
At the Việt Nam's IRONMAN 70.3, Christopher Frederick Mascarenhas-Keyes won the men’s category with a total time of 4:15.12. Krisztina Vaczi was first in the women's class at 5:02.05.
After the success of the Việt Nam 2023 IRONMAN 70.3, the second event of 2023 BIM Group IRONMAN 70.3 Phu Quoc has been confirmed to be held on the beautiful beach of Phú Quốc Island in Kiên Giang Province. VNS
